Where technical expertise meets personal service, and every investigation is handled with the precision it deserves.
The name Blacksand Forensics was born from an unexpected source: my son's fascination with Minecraft. He was particularly drawn to obsidian—a material that's hard, resilient, and in the game's universe, capable of creating portals to other worlds. As someone with Egyptian heritage, I've always been drawn to the imagery of deserts and the way sand can both conceal and reveal. In digital forensics, data is like sand—countless grains that, when properly sifted and analyzed, reveal the truth hidden within. Obsidian, formed from volcanic glass, is black sand in its most refined form: hard, precise, and revealing. The name represents what I do: filtering through vast amounts of digital data to find the smoking gun, the critical evidence that tells the real story. It's about precision, clarity, and the ability to see what others might miss.
With over 14 years in cybersecurity and digital forensics, I've worked across multiple sectors—from leading national practices at major firms to conducting complex investigations for financial institutions and government agencies. My background includes roles at CGI, CIBC, PwC, and specialized cybersecurity firms, where I've led breach response teams, built forensic labs, and managed high-stakes investigations. I hold a B.Tech. in Forensic Investigation & Computer Crime from BCIT and a B.A. in Economics from McMaster University. My certifications include CISSP, CCFE, and multiple specialized forensic credentials. I maintain Secret Level II clearance with the Canadian Federal Government and am a licensed Private Investigator in Ontario. Fluent in English, German, and Arabic, with conversational French, I bring both technical expertise and cultural understanding to every investigation.
While much of my work involves corporate investigations and breach response, some of the most meaningful cases are the personal ones. I've helped individuals regain access to critical files after losing passwords, assisted families in recovering important documents from deceased loved ones' computers, and helped people navigate digital challenges during difficult times. These cases remind me that digital forensics isn't just about corporate security—it's about helping real people solve real problems. Whether it's a widow who needs to access her late husband's computer to pay bills, or a business owner dealing with a data breach, every case deserves the same level of care and precision.
After years of working in various organizations, I recognized the need for a forensics practice built on unwavering standards. Blacksand Forensics was founded on the principle that every investigation deserves meticulous attention to detail, regardless of size or complexity. Here, I set the standards. Every case is handled with precision, integrity, and a commitment to uncovering the truth. There are no shortcuts, no compromises on methodology, and no cases too small to matter. Whether you're a multinational corporation or an individual facing a personal digital challenge, you receive the same level of expertise and care. As a local, independent practice, I offer something larger firms often can't: direct access to the investigator handling your case, personalized service, and the flexibility to adapt to your specific needs. You're not a case number—you're a client who deserves answers.
Based in Ontario, Canada, Blacksand Forensics serves clients locally and across the country. Being local means I understand the regional legal landscape, can respond quickly when needed, and provide face-to-face consultations when circumstances require it. At the same time, my experience working with international firms and government agencies means you benefit from global best practices and cutting-edge forensic methodologies. It's the best of both worlds: local accessibility with world-class expertise.
